Independent Homestay Program in Turkey with

Turkey embraces two continents with one arm reaching out to Asia and other to Europe. Turkey offers a fusion of culture - old and new, east and west. Our Independent Homestay program is the way best to learn about Turkey's rich culture, and it’s people and history. You can see landscapes of incredible natural beauty, sites of great antiquity, town and villages with examples of architecture from Byzantine, seljuk and Ottoman times. Once you have visited Turkey, sampled delicious foods and enjoyed the friendliness and hospitality of the people you are sure want to return again…..

Host families and Accommodations - Our host families come from different backgrounds and life styles. What they have in common is their hospitality. Your host family will provide you with a private bedroom when possible. Meals will be eaten together with your hosts. Our host families are mainly in Istanbul and Izmir, though rural area placements can also be made upon request. Or combine the city and rural stay.

Typical activities - Your host family will be eager to take you to cultural and historic sites such as palaces, mosques, museums and other local attractions. Or simply spend time with your hosts visiting friends or relatives and share their daily life. Turkey has a very rich cuisine and dining is a important part of the culture. You may have a chance to visit local markets and learn how to cook Turkish food with your hosts. You should also be prepared to plan your own day and explore the city.

Local Support - Each participant is met at the airport and transferred to the host family by EIL Turkey. You will also be assisted to the bus terminal if necessary where you will be met by your host family. Each participant will be provided with a “Welcome Pack” and emergency contact numbers.

Travel Arrangements - All travel arrangements are your responsibility and must be booked in compliance with the placement and with the Experiment office in Turkey. We ask that our participants try to organize their arrival and departure on weekdays only to enable us to give airport transfers.

Dates and Application Deadlines - The homestay program in Turkey is a 1-4 week program, and you may set your own start and end dates throughout the year.

Optional Add-Ons - Survival Turkish Language classes can be arranged in our office for an additional fee.
