We started our adventure in Madrid, Spain’s capital city. Staying close to Plaza del Sol was so convenient. We experienced walking through the plaza on our day trips. Sol is also the point where all of Spain’s major roads start.
One of the roads led us to the ancient city of Toledo. Our bus stopped on a hill right in front of the ancient city and we were able to take advantage of the view catching a glimpse of our first group picture in Spain. It was so interesting walking the very narrow streets and seeing cars squeeze through the tiny cracks between buildings. We looked out for each other by shouting “coche!” which means “car” in Spanish. After a day of learning about medieval Arab, Jewish, and Christian history, we went back “home” to Madrid and had a great dinner. We had a family style dinner of raciones, sharing calamari, chicken, veggies, and other delicious Spanish food. Spain is wonderful!
