The Embassy of the United States of America in Saudi Arabia and EducationUSA, in partnership with World Learning, is launching the Quincy STEM Career & College Exploration Program, which will bring together 50 U.S. and 100 Saudi high school students to explore youth leadership and develop soft skills relevant to college exploration and career development in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields. This fully funded (free!) eight-week virtual experience is modeled on The Experiment Digital, a pioneer in online exchange programming.
Students who participate in The Quincy STEM Career & College Exploration Program will:
During The Quincy STEM Career & College Exploration Program, a team of experts in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia will facilitate online experiential learning activities, which will be tailored to accommodate students with different levels of STEM experience. Through college and career planning activities, participants will explore how to build digital communication and leadership skills through STEM opportunities in high school and higher education. Participants will also learn how to conduct an effective job search and identify skills or knowledge required for the field(s) they want to work in.
Participants will be grouped into “neighborhoods” of 25–30 students, which will be led by our trained U.S. and Saudi adult facilitators with support from peer mentors.
Participants who successfully complete the program will receive digital badges to showcase their knowledge and skills gained, access to the U.S. Department of State’s International Alumni Network, unique project funding opportunities from the U.S. Department of State, and a $400 scholarship for a summer 2022 program abroad with The Experiment in International Living.
This program takes place October 11 to December 5, 2021.
An optional program orientation online happens between October 7–10, with a time commitment of two hours.
Students will be expected to dedicate a minimum of four hours per week to program activities and assignments, with about one hour per week of synchronous online meeting time and about three hours per week of independent online assignments.
